Barndo Buildout Example

This is a recent building by Texas Choice Steel Buildings. Our steel shell was used for this barndominium finish out.
The nice thing about a barndo is that you don't need any interior, load-bearing walls. You can design the inside any way you want!
This Texas Choice Steel Buildings steel shell was finished out into four bedrooms, two full baths, a laundry room and a large open living room / kitchen combination. There's also a garage attached to one end and a large screen porch and open-air porch.
Texas Choice Steel Buildings provides the steel shell building only. Think of what we provide as the turtle shell. You'll then frame out the interior for the most part just like you would a traditional wood frame house. There's a few things you'll do different, and you can see from the photos some things that were done to accommodate a vaulted ceiling in the living room and kitchen.
This customer opted to use spray foam insulation on their building. You don't have to, but they decided that would seal up the building well and provide the insulation wanted, both in the same product.
The interior ceilings of the bedrooms, bath rooms and laundry are 9'.
The vaulted living room / kitchen area has 14' ceilings.

- This gable end of the building has a 20'x16' enclosed screen porch on the left side and an open 20'x16' porch to the right. (screen is not installed yet). Essentially this is a roof extension enclosed with sheeting and has frame outs to create the finished porch. An internal wall was added to separate the 40'x16' extension into two 20' wide areas.
- Customer installed their own sliding door, walk-in door, windows and dog doors.
- The eave sides have 2' extended eaves.
- There's two vents installed high on the wall to draw hot air from the porch.
- The roof pitch was upgraded to a 4/12 pitch
- Steel sheeting was upgraded to 26 gauge
- Wainscot (two tone siding) was added
